Wir gratulieren Moritz Platzer zum erfolgreichen Bachelor-Abschluss

Sechs spannende Monate durften wir Moritz Platzer bei seiner Bachelor-Arbeit im Bereich Complex Event Processing unterstützen. Am Freitag, den 06.09.2019 war es dann endlich soweit: Moritz konnte seine Bachelor-Arbeit erfolgreich an der Universität Stuttgart verteidigen und hat damit seinen Bachelor of Science der Softwaretechnik mit hervorragenden Noten abgeschlossen.

Wir sind unglaublich stolz auf unseren fleißigen Mitarbeiter und freuen uns, dass wir ihn nicht nur bei seinem Studienabschluss, sondern auch bei seinem ersten beruflichen Schritt begleiten dürfen. Moritz wird nämlich ab dem 01. Oktober als Solution Engineer in der dibuco GmbH tätig sein.

"Conception of a CEP System for Smart Buildings" - Moritz Platzer

Modern buildings aim to increase their longevity and minimize their resource consumption, while maximizing the comfort of its inhabitants. These so-called smart buildings utilize IoT infrastructure as well as advanced software systems to monitor the individual subsystems such as heating, ventilation and air-conditioning. In order to react to changes in these subsystems, a specialized technique called Complex Event Processing (CEP) is employed. CEP software monitors the data produced from all sensors and uses predefined rules in order to recognize situations, notifying the respective actuators accordingly. Additional value can be gained by the data derived from this process. Matching event data to related documents can give critical insight into situations, which a manual search would not be able to find conceivably. This thesis suggests a concept for a system, that is able to use data coming from a Complex Event Processor and ingests it into an information retrieval software, which links it to documents and data sets related to the data origin. Currently a wide variety of Complex Event Processing software exists in the open-source market. It is not clear which Complex Event Processing software would be most suitable for this task. In this thesis, a selection of open-source Complex Event Processors is compared. A candidate used for a prototypical concept of a platform, that is able to correlate event data from a smart building with relevant documents, is determined.
